Elvis Festival Weekend

June 2nd, 2011 by Admin

This weekend is Tupelo’s annual Elvis Festival.  If you didn’t know, Tupelo is the birthplace of Elvis Presley, so we have visitors from all over the world.  We are conveniently located two doors down from Tupelo Hardware, where Elvis bought his first guitar.  So, to honor Elvis, we have acquired a nice collection of Elvis-themed art by Elayne Goodman.  She has a unique style and is known for her colorful portrayals of the king.  Stop in and see what great things she does.  We also have two nice new Elvis paintings by Sylvain Chamberlain.  Although the images are classic, Sylvain has given them a twist with his unique style.  Stop in this weekend to see these fine works.

New Artists, New Art, and What’s Beneath

April 21st, 2011 by kim

This week we welcome new artists to Caron Gallery:  John Armistead, Tanner Coleman, and Don and Louise Coulson/Kingfisher Designs.  We are thrilled to add this talented group to the gallery family.  You must make a point to come in to view their incredible works of art.

We also are in the final week of the “What’s Beneath” Exhibit by Cindy Aune.  Her collection has received rave reviews and several pieces have found new homes.  Cindy’s use of color and her unique style make for a very dynamic show.  Please come see it before it’s gone.

We also have new works of art from Sylvain Chamberlain, Jackie Ellens, Lee Gibson, and Judy Tucci that you simply must see.

We hope you will visit us soon and see what is new at Caron Gallery!

Finally found a home!!

July 5th, 2010 by kim

The gallery has finally found a home at 122 W. Main Street. This space was previously a bank and has some really interesting details inside. We will spend the month of July and early August getting the space ready for opening later in August. It is a perfect spot in downtown Tupelo, across from Reed’s and just down from Tupelo Hardware. We will have lots of space to display the beautiful works of such talented artists in North Mississippi.  In June, I welcomed Ashley Prince as a partner in the gallery.  Ashley has a passion for art that will be a great addition to the gallery.  We have our first public event this week at the Down On Main concert series on Thursday, July 8.  We will have a tent set up with a display of works by some of our artists on the website.  I hope people will come out and meet these great artists.  Just remember, the gallery is about the artists and their works, not me and Ashley.

Learning to be a webmaster

June 15th, 2010 by kim

I have been amazed at how much I learn on a daily basis about computers and the business world. I know I haven’t worked in the business sector in 15 years, but I have always tried to stay up with the times. Little did I know that technology was moving at break neck speeds during that time. The first month I began with the website, my head would hurt at the end of each day. I am now at the point it doesn’t hurt from all the information, but sometimes it feels like the information is looking for room to fit into my brain. I am so amazed at the youth of the younger generation on their knowledge of all this technology. Everyone seems to give them a bad rap, but they really do know way more then we ever knew at that age. They have taught me so much. Thanks to Laura and Casey for allowing me to be their student.

Continuing the search

May 18th, 2010 by kim

I am continuing to research a gallery location. Have two good prospects, but so many things to consider. Still have two more places to tour and weigh all the pros/cons for each spot. So ready to finally be somewhere so everyone can see the works in real life. I’ve had more artist contact me over the last few days and am very impressed with all the talent in north Mississippi. Can’t wait to add more artists soon.

Bricks and Mortar

April 30th, 2010 by kim

I have been working to put things together to make a storefront/bricks and mortar happen in Tupelo. So many things to consider and wonder if it will be right for the gallery. Should it be located downtown or somewhere else in Tupelo? Will customers be willing to climb stairs to a second story retail space? Can Tupelo support a true art gallery? Will I be able to pay the bills? Scary prospects to ponder as I travel down this road. I pray for wisdom to make the right decisions.

Grand Opening

April 15th, 2010 by kim

It is an exciting day to finally go live with the website.  I never thought we would get to this day.  I have learned so much about administrating the website and realize I am not too old to learn something new.  I haven’t been on a photo shoot in about a week or two, so now that the website is up, I am headed out doors to take some pictures.  Thanks for all the support over the last few months as I follow this dream of mine and see it come to fruition.
